Invoking Change, Part 2

by Ron Davis on October 21, 2008

We’re taking a look at ways we can bring about change on the political scene.  The first method to discuss is campaigning for good candidates.

What does campaigning for the candidate involve?  A bumper sticker, a yard sign, and maybe a t-shirt?  That’s a start, but there’s more you can do.  Attend a rally.  Donate to their campaign.  Educate yourself and have an open discussion with your friends about politics.

Remember, we’re looking for a way to change the political scene.  Doing the same thing we’ve always done will not bring about any change at all.  We must do something different. Get active.  Get that bumper sticker like you usually do, but go volunteer for their campaign.  Pass out literature.  Organize house parties.  Join in the celebration on Election Day.

We have to become more involved in the process.  When we find a candidate we can support, and we work with the campaign to help gain more support, spread the word, and earn votes, we are personally vested in the candidacy.  When the candidate wins, we win.

When we’ve worked hard with our candidate to get him elected, we will have his ear as we continue to invoke change in politics by communicating with our elected officials.
