Melissa, thanks for stopping by.

My problem with the Sunday sales issue is that Oxendine favors legislating morality and family values in the place of personal freedom.

On the endorsement of big government Republican ideals, he was being celebrated on a stage with Saxby Chambliss, Johnny Isakson, Lindsey Graham, and John McCain. I don't know what else that could have been (other than, as I said, an obligation to the GOP).

On the Q&A, no, I'm not saying he's a bad choice because he didn't have a Q&A session. I'm saying I was disappointed that he didn't have a Q&A session because I had questions that I would have liked to ask him.

I'm saying he's a bad choice for Governor because he stands for more government and less freedom.

Oxendine does not favor alcohol sales on Sunday. “Republicans are supposed to be the party of family values. Where is the value in selling alcohol on the Lord’s Day? Oxendine asked.

“Was an open endorsement of big government Republican ideals.” Seriously?

And are you suggesting he is a bad choice for governor because he didn’t have a Q&A session at your meeting? Really?

I'm glad that people are starting to recognize that Ox is not the best choice for governor. He may claim to be a Republican, but he is by no means a Conservative. The only true Conservative on the ballot is Ray McBerry. Ray is a states' rights, 10th amendment supporter. When he speaks, he addresses all issues and makes time to answer your questions. He has a specific plan in place for Georgia and knows where this state needs to go in order to get the radical federal government out of our pocketbooks and our lives. He's not just another pawn like Perdue or Oxendine. Check out www.georgiafirst.org to read about Ray's agenda and when you can hear him speak in your local area.

John Oxendine is a joke. He's the Republican version of Obama in the fact that he has no real substantial policy and no real record of achievement. Obama never opened his mouth without mentioning "hope" and "change." Likewise, Oxendine never opens his without mentioning Ronald Reagan and the FairTax; he turns a great legacy and a great hope into empty buzzwords.
Furthermore, his policies aren't well-thought-out. His water policy consists of digging a few new reservoirs in North Georgia. That's fine, but how does he plan to fill them? To say nothing of the farmers in South Georgia who need water.

If you ask me, I think part of the reason he's leading in the polls is name recognition: you can't pump gas without seeing his name.

I just found your blog today and really enjoy it! Keep up the great work.

I could knot agree with you more on your comments regarding John Oxendine! I saw him speak several weeks ago along with the other candidates at the Faith and Freedom Coalitions rally in Duluth. I was amased at how unprepared he appeared to be. He rambled through an agonizing speech which had very little to do with his vision for our state. After he finished, he bolted from the room and spoke to noone in the audience. Austin scott seemed to be the only one willing to hang around and answer everyones questions until we all had a chance to speak with him. My friends and I left the rally knowing who we would be supporting in the Republican primary. Austin had a clear understanding of the issues we face and appeared ready to challenge those issues head on. I hope your readers will take your sound advice and research the other candidates. I also hope they will agree our great state will be in good hands with Austin Scott as our new Governor.
