I’ve written this post no fewer than 5 times, and after each time through, I have to stop myself, delete the post, and remind myself of what I should (or should not) say in a public forum.
Yesterday I saw this blog post, which has some video footage of a recent town hall meeting with Senator Lindsey Graham. (The footage is tough to watch and is hard to hear, but it’s definitely worth your time, especially if you live in South Carolina.)
Somebody criticized Graham for not adhering to Constitutional principles, and he went on a rant, somehow getting to “We’re not going to be the Ron Paul party” instead of addressing the constituent’s concerns. So, in the context of the event, Lindsey Graham admits he is not interested in representing South Carolina on Constitutional principles. Sad.
Lindsey Graham says that the Republican Party is “not going to be the party of the angry white guys.” The problem with that is that I’m a Republican, and I’m an angry white guy.
I’m angry that Republicans will openly say they have no intention of adhering to Constitutional principles.
I’m angry that Republicans will compromise their standards in the name of bipartisanship.
I’m angry that Republicans insist on legislating morality rather than standing for individual freedom.
I’m angry that Lindsey Graham has the audacity to imply that I don’t belong in the Republican Party.
Lindsey Graham is what’s wrong with the Republican Party. There’s movement stirring. You can blame it on Ron Paul if you want to, but it’s not entirely his work. There are people like me who are not happy with their representation, who will work to do whatever it takes to remove RINOs like Lindsey Graham from office.
We will stand for freedom, and we will be governed by Constitutional principles – whether Lindsey Graham likes it or not.

“not going to be the party of the angry white guys” — Ruh-roh for Sen. Graham. there are a lot of us in SC (I’m in Georgia and keep my anger out of sight, mostly, but I know ‘em in our neighbor state).
Nice post.

Problem is with the electorate in South Carolina. They keep picking this guy.
Steve – thanks for stopping by. Hopefully this comes back to haunt Graham next time he’s up for re-election. Unfortunately, that won’t be for a while.
Tom – you’re right. Unfortunately, we’ve got the same problem with our 2 Senators here in Georgia.
You guys are so right about the dishonorable Senator Graham. It is pathetic Republicans such as himself who may very well be leading the National Republican Party down the path of no return. Its sad he wants to write off the Ron Paul Revolution and his followers when they are the only group in the Republican party that seems to be growing. Has he forgotten the thousands of people who boycotted the Republican National Convention and attended Ron Pauls own convention instead? Has he forgotten we lost everything in the last election to the Democrats? Has he forgotten the avalanche of cash which poured into Ron Pauls campaign from everyday working citizens? There is a movement stirring within the republican party to take the party back from the dinosaurs such as Graham, lets just hope its not too little or too late. Otherwise God help us all.And lets pity the poor people of South Carolina for having to live with a disgrace such as Graham representing them.
