Daniel Stout – a Principled Representative for Paulding County

by Ron Davis on May 17, 2010

I started getting involved in politics largely because the elected Republicans lost their way when it came to voting on principle.  The mentality of “Yes, I oppose taxes, but I’ll vote for your tax bill because it benefits me” is killing America and ruining the Republican brand on all levels of government.

We have an obligation to ourselves and to our communities to find these unprincipled Republicans and replace them with men and women who will stand firm on principle at all costs.  In similar fashion, when we have principled representatives, we must work diligently to keep them in office.

In a special election in the Georgia House district where I live, we recently elected Daniel Stout to represent us in Atlanta.  He served the remainder of the 2010 session, and during that time, he did something that representatives too often fail to do: Daniel Stout stood firm on principle.

When Daniel Stout was under pressure to follow the majority and vote for tax increases, he stood firm and voted against them.  When it came to a choice between honoring his word to his constituents and doing what Republicans in Atlanta expected of him, he stood firm on principle and honored his promises to his constituents.

Look at Stout’s voting record.  (He has the entire record online so you can see each vote he cast and why he voted that way.)  Then compare that record to what he said he would do in the House when we elected him.

Daniel told us that he would vote against tax increases, against increases in government, and against legislation that would hinder Georgians’ 2nd Amendment rights.  When he was serving the 19th district, he voted exactly how he promised he would on every one of these issues.

Daniel Stout is now running for re-election to represent the district for another term.  In a time when we have so few representatives (at all levels of government) worth re-electing, it is imperative that we elect Daniel Stout for another term.

The 19th district needs Daniel Stout in the legislature.  Georgia needs Daniel Stout in the legislature.  Join with me; let’s send this true conservative – and man of his word – to Atlanta to represent us for another term.
