I’m a Republican.  When I was growing up, someone who claimed that title meant that they were associating themselves with President Reagan.  These days it could mean a number of things.

For me, it says I’m a conservative.  Less government.  Less taxes.  Less government involvement in peoples’ lives.  Give the people their life and liberty, and let them pursue happiness without the government getting in the way.

Over the years, we have surrendered (or have been robbed by the government of) many of our liberties.  We have given government power over us that they should not have.  Instead of the government existing for our benefit, we find ourselves existing for the benefit of the government.  This must end.

I have decided that I can no longer sit idle while the Party with which I associate trends toward the Party whose ideals are directly opposite to what I believe is good and right for our country.  UpholdLiberty.org is a record of my progress.  It’s a political blog that gives focus to the loss, protection, and reclaiming of American liberties.

I am not yet sure what role I will have in changing the Republican Party.  So far I have joined my local Party, and I have taken a more active role in paying attention to what is happening in Washington (and Atlanta).  I hope to work with some campaigns to get sound, fiscally conservative leaders elected (or re-elected, as the case may be).  Beyond that, we’ll see what happens.

If you’re in Paulding County and feel the same way as I do about these things I’ve mentioned, I would love to get together with you and see how we can work with the Paulding Republicans leadership to help bring a conservative change to our county, state, and nation.

If you live outside of Paulding County, it’s still very important that we work together.  I know I’m not alone in this desire for true conservatism.  Let’s combine our resources and work to make a change for the better.
